{"id":1982,"date":"2014-10-30T22:18:12","date_gmt":"2014-10-30T20:18:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mondomare.de\/wordpress\/?p=1982"},"modified":"2014-10-30T23:39:54","modified_gmt":"2014-10-30T21:39:54","slug":"antofagasta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mondomare.de\/wordpress\/?p=1982","title":{"rendered":"Antofagasta"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u00dcber die Ruta 1 fahren wir in den n\u00e4chsten Tagen die abwechslungsreiche K\u00fcste mit ihren tief in die Felsw\u00e4nde eingegrabenen Buchten, kleinen Industrieh\u00e4fen und beschaulichen Fischerorten weiter nach S\u00fcden. <em>Antofagasta<\/em> ist unser n\u00e4chstes gr\u00f6\u00dferes Etappenziel. Die Entfernungsangaben auf den gr\u00fcn-wei\u00dfen Schildern tragen den gro\u00dfen Distanzen in diesem langgezogenen und gef\u00fchlt nur handtuchbreiten Land Rechnung und lassen uns manches Mal staunen: <em>Puerto Montt 1.640 km<\/em>. Okay. Das ist ungef\u00e4hr so, als w\u00fcrde in D\u00fcsseldorf ein Schild mit der Entfernung nach Rom stehen.<\/p>\n<p><em>Mejillones,<\/em> ein v\u00f6llig untouristischer, aber daf\u00fcr um so authentischerer Ort n\u00f6rdlich von <em>Antofagasta<\/em>, bringt uns zum Schmunzeln, denn \u00fcberall in der kleinen Stadt stehen gro\u00dfe bunte Comicfiguren aus Plastik; von Goofy \u00fcber Minnie Mouse bis Superman sind alle namhaften Helden unserer Kindheit vertreten. Die beiden gr\u00f6\u00dften Kupferminen des Landes, <em>Chucicamata<\/em> und <em>La Escondida<\/em>, liegen nicht weit entfernt; per Bahn wird das Erz an die K\u00fcste transportiert und die Verladung auf Frachtschiffe erfolgt hier in den gro\u00dfen Hafenanlagen. Wie <em>Arica<\/em> und<em> Iquique<\/em> wird auch <em>Antofagasta<\/em> im Sommer von internationalen Kreuzfahrtschiffen angelaufen, deren Passagiere zus\u00e4tzlich Geld in die Stadtkasse sp\u00fclen.<\/p>\n<p>Zum \u00dcbernachten finden wir rund 15 km n\u00f6rdlich der Stadt einen \u201eKaiserplatz\u201c an der Steilk\u00fcste aus Muschelkalk, die hier vom ewig nagenden Meer im Laufe der Jahrtausende ausgewaschen ist. Rauf aufs Dach, rein ins Gurtzeug und rauf in die Luft. Davon hat er schon lange getr\u00e4umt und die Bedingungen sind geradezu ideal. Am Strand zieht er den Schirm auf, geht ein paar Schritte zur\u00fcck und schon ist er im Aufwindband. In gleichm\u00e4\u00dfigen Bahnen schwebt er ger\u00e4uschlos am Ufer entlang und erst mit der im Pazifik versinkenden Sonne hat er wieder festen Boden unter den F\u00fc\u00dfen.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<style attraktiv gestaltete <em>Museo Desierto de Atacama<\/em>, welches auf den imposanten Ruinen einer ehemaligen Silberschmelze angelegt und 2010 er\u00f6ffnet wurde. Unter anderem sind im Museum Kieferteile von Urkrokodilen, versteinerte Skelette von Mini-Sauriern, Fossilien von Muscheln und Meeresschnecken und die Knochen und Z\u00e4hne eines <em>Megalodons<\/em>, des bis zu 18 Meter gro\u00dfen Riesenhais, ausgestellt. Ein einzelner Zahn ist in etwa so gro\u00df wie meine Handfl\u00e4che und Hugo h\u00e4tte im Kiefer des Riesenhais noch locker aufrecht stehen k\u00f6nnen. Bei zwei bis drei Metern Kieferdurchmesser konnte der <em>Megalodon<\/em> ein ausgewachsenes Pferd im Ganzen verschlucken.
